SOCIAL WORK TRAINING


Generally social work training takes 3 to 4 years.  This is a full time course.  There are many options to study.  There is a Social Workers’ Registration Board that provides the assessment and the suitable candidate is given the registration.  This board is found in New Zealand.  One can get a qualification that gives us good recognition.  Generally the information is found on the board’s website.  Trainings on child, youth and family are given which teach the students how to deal with children and adolescents, problems at the workplace, advancement in career, leadership opportunities.

The degree in social work was called diploma in social work.  The degree program was implemented replacing the diploma.  Those who participate in social work training, they are engaged in paid work, voluntary service, placement of work, experience in life or as a volunteer.  The training can go along with the work. 

The degree course teaches us the benefits of social work and the different kinds of laws that are used in social work along with the ethics and values.  The practical experience is given a top priority.  The theoretical training is given a practical shape by allowing the student a 200-day practical training. 
The verbal skills and decision-making skills are important in social work.  Patience is also an important factor.  The student learns various topics like law, joint venture, intervention, mental health and issues of disability.

Generally the primary goal for social work training is making the students eligible for employment.  The training is given professionally.  They are also given training in liberal arts i.e. the education required to participate fully in our civic life.  The grammar, rhetoric and logic are taught in liberal arts.  The secondary goal is to prepare the student’s mind for higher education.  The student becomes a responsible citizen. 

In a social work training, many interesting subjects like social welfare, human development, sociology, anthropology, psychology and anthropology.   The students are taught how to write research papers.  Social statistics and social work research are taught.  There are special courses like social gerontology,  child welfare, medical social work, etc. 
The qualification for a certificate in social work training are bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, criminal justice or any kind of human service program, which has been granted by the Social Worker Section.  The master’s degree is not taken into account.
