NURSING SCHOOLS IN FLORIDA


Florida is a wonderful place where the sea beach attracts millions of people.  This state has a population that will grow to 20 million by 2015.  Many retired persons will be living in Florida.  As the number of aged population is rising, there will be a increasing need for serving the senior citizens.  There is a shortage of nurses.  Proper training needs to be given to the nurses.
There are 120 nursing schools in Florida.  The training programs of the nurses range from diploma, associate degrees up to doctoral degrees.  The residents of Florida can get scholarships.  The Janet Colliflower Keys Nursing Scholarship Program gives $1000 to two students per year.
The population of Florida is rapidly growing.  But the number of nurses is quite low.  As per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Florida needs 7000 nurses in the coming few years.  There is an aging baby boomer population, which is creating the demand.  The RNs can earn $30 on hourly basis.
The top employers for the registered nurses in Florida are Florida Hospital Orlando, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Memorial Regional Hospital, Orlando Regional Medical Center and Tampa General Hospital.
In Florida, there are 89 accredited nursing schools.  The nursing training is given at the following levels:
  1.  Nursing certificate.
  2. Associates Degree in Nursing.
  3. Masters Degree in Nursing.
  4. PhD Degree in Nursing.
The various degree programs are anesthetist, CCU, Coordinator, Hepatology, Holistic, Home Health, Hospice, ICU, Infectious Diseases, Informatics, IV Therapy, Nurse Anesthesia, Nurse Practitioner, Nursery.
The nursing schools in Florida like New Hope Training Center Inc. has some criteria which the candidate applying for nursing training must fulfill and they are Diploma or GED, Criminal Background Check, Drug Test, Tuberculosis Skin Test, Physical Exam, Reading Comprehension Exam, English Competency Exam and Minimum Age of 18.

  1.  Prerequisites:  You need to know the qualifications for entering a nursing school and prepare yourselves accordingly.
  2. Experience:  You should not underestimate your experience in the healthcare field.
  3. Create the perfect application:  You need to type your application to the nursing school if you can.
  4. Introduce yourself in the nursing field:  Visit the nursing school’s office and meet with the officials and talk to them.
  5. You need to work actively:  You need to visit the nursing department and talk to the receptionist.  Share your excitement with them and they will understand that you have the need of being a nurse.
